Indrė Šulskytė, a pharmacist at the Camelia pharmacy, has issued public health recommendations regarding preparations for the upcoming Lithuanian summer holidays. Šulskytė advises that because many people plan to spend time in natural settings away from home, even minor lapses in care can escalate into significant health concerns. She highlighted several environmental risks associated with outdoor summer activities.
These include the increased rate of food spoilage due to heat, heightened mosquito activity in the evenings, and the presence of ticks in fields and forests. Furthermore, the extended time spent outdoors necessitates increased vigilance regarding sun exposure. According to the pharmacist, preparation for the holidays should encompass more than just planning meals or entertainment; ensuring adequate medical supplies is crucial for maintaining the health of their loved ones.
To ensure a well-equipped travel pharmacy, Šulskytė recommends stocking several essential categories of medicine. These must include any medications that are taken on a regular basis, as well as over-the-counter remedies for pain and fever. Additionally, travelers should carry activated charcoal or other digestive supplements, electrolyte solutions to prevent dehydration, and anti-nausea medications.
This proactive approach, she stated, helps mitigate potential issues encountered while enjoying the natural beauty of Lithuania.
