The primary objective of this development project was to establish a tranquil sanctuary, providing both residents and visitors a respite from the pace of daily life, encouraging relaxation and quiet contemplation. Complementing this focus on peace, the project was equally dedicated to fostering social integration and strengthening the local community spirit by transforming the area into a central venue for cultural events and gatherings. A defining characteristic of this square is its commitment to participatory design.
Decisions throughout the process, ranging from the maintenance of the pond to the selection of seating arrangements, were coordinated directly with the active Great Kabiši community. The central attraction of the main square is a modern stile situated alongside a sandy beach, which together create optimal conditions for waterfront leisure. Beyond these natural and architectural features, the area was designed to function as a vibrant living space for local recreation and social interaction.
The combination of dedicated recreation zones, comfortable seating, and the waterfront setting has successfully established this location as a key hub for local life. This dual focus—providing a serene escape while simultaneously acting as a dynamic main gathering point—ensures the project serves both the need for tranquility and the impetus for community connection. The resulting space is intended to be a sustainable center for local social life and cultural exchange.
