The Lithuanian 20-year-old basketball players did not have any hopes against the Serbs

In a recent European Championship matchup, the Lithuanian U20 girls’ basketball team experienced a significant shift in momentum across the four quarters. Although Serbia initially established a slight advantage in the first quarter, the opposing team responded strongly in the second quarter, scoring 32 points to 9, which gave them a commanding 50:21 lead after two periods. The Lithuanian squad mounted a comeback attempt in the second half.

They narrowed the gap in the third quarter, securing a 22:13 segment victory. In the final quarter, the Lithuanian players pushed to reduce the deficit further. However, the initial advantage held by Serbia proved too substantial to overcome, resulting in the Lithuanian team’s first defeat of the tournament.

Despite this setback, the overall tournament record shows that the Lithuanian team remains sixth in the standings. Prior to this game, Lithuania had demonstrated success in the group stages. They secured victories against Latvia, scoring 104 to 78, and also defeated Poland with a score of 84 to 67.

These wins were crucial components of the group phase, solidifying the team’s position amidst the European Championship competition.
