A Lithuanian team of rescuers returns from Venezuela

The LERT team has concluded a demanding 14-day rescue mission and is scheduled to return to Lithuania later this week. The specialized unit comprised a multi-agency contingent, reflecting the breadth of expertise required for the operation. The core group consisted of twenty personnel from the State Firefighting Service, supported by two members of the State Border Guard Service, who were accompanied by service dogs, and two dedicated members from the Emergency Medical Service.

Upon their return, the dedication and proficiency of the entire team were formally acknowledged. According to a report issued by the Department of Fire Protection and Rescue, the group was honored with a visit from the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Eloina Rodriguez Gomez. During the visit, the President presented the rescuers with the prestigious Order of the Brave, recognizing their exceptional commitment during the challenging deployment.

The composition of the rescue team demonstrated a significant inter-agency service effort.
