The court extended the arrest of Š. Stepukonis until September(1)

A session was held at the Vilnius city district court concerning the status of Š. Stepukonis, a former partner associated with “Baltcap.” According to reporting by Giedrius Janonis, the court convened to review a statement presented by Dariaus Karčinskas, the delegated prosecutor from the European Public Prosecutor’s Office. The discussion centered on the request to extend the non-custodial measure previously imposed on Stepukonis.

Stepukonis was initially detained by arrest for a period of three months in the middle of April. Following this initial period, the prosecutor formally petitioned the court for an extension of this measure. After reviewing the submitted materials and the arguments presented, the investigating judge ruled in favor of the prosecutor’s request.

Consequently, the court approved the extension of the suspect’s non-custodial measure—arrest. The revised duration grants Stepukonis an additional period of 2.5 months. This extended period is scheduled to run from July 16, 2026, through September 1, 2026.

The ruling marks a continuation of judicial oversight regarding the ongoing investigation involving the individual. The decision by the court to grant the extension reflects the ongoing procedural needs identified by the European Public Prosecutor’s Office.
