During a recent local event, Darius Jasaitis, the Mayor of Neringa Municipality, and Narūnas Lendraitis, the vice-mayor, presented a bronze plaque bearing a musician’s palm impression to the founder of the Neringa Municipality Mayor. In response to the honor, festival founder and producer Leonidas Šinkarenka addressed the recognition. Šinkarenka characterized the recognition as a profound and unexpected acknowledgment.
He stated that he accepted the commemoration not merely as a personal honor, but as a tribute to the entire Lithuanian jazz community. He emphasized that the “Nida Jazz Marathon” was not the creation of any single individual, but rather the result of collective effort involving musicians, support staff, dedicated sponsors, and the loyal audience. He expressed sincere gratitude to all contributing parties.
The annual gathering continues to draw generations of jazz enthusiasts back to Nida. Alongside the cultural events, the traditional amateur VIP tennis tournament, known as the “Nida Jazz Cup,” was held. This year’s festival featured three dedicated evenings under the banner of “Nida Jazz Mara,” marking the continuation of the cultural celebration within the municipality.
The proceedings highlighted the enduring significance of the jazz arts within the local community.
