Storm clouds are arriving in Lithuania: it is warning about hail, and the ice has already been recorded on Friday(1)

Meteorologist Gytis Valaika, representing the group “Weather and Climate in Lithuania,” provided an update on regional weather patterns, referencing the European storm prediction experiment, “Estofex.” According to the assessment, the second level of storm threat has been assigned, with the highest probability of severe weather concentrated in the southern and southeastern regions of Lithuania. Valaika reviewed the weather activity from the previous day, noting that the area managed to avoid a more severe storm scenario on Friday. He described the presence of two distinct storm masses: one situated near Joniškis, and another, which he described as unexpected, near Alytus.

He observed the dramatic atmospheric conditions following the evening rain, noting visible lightning flashes emanating from the storm clouds. Looking ahead, the forecast indicates that high temperatures are expected to persist throughout the weekend, though residents should anticipate periods of occasional rain and thunderstorms. Citing Estofex, Valaika stated that the prediction system had declared a danger level for the Baltic states, warning that many people across the region could be affected by potential storm activity.

The advisory serves as a caution for residents across Lithuania to remain vigilant regarding changing weather conditions, particularly concerning the potential for thunderstorms in the coming days.
