The rocket will not be sailing to Nida this year: he explained what happened(1)

Representatives from the public institution “Waterway,” the owner of the vessel “Raketa,” have announced that the ship is scheduled to resume its service on the Neman River route to Nida next year, specifically in June. Previously, the resumption of seasonal trips was subject to external factors. According to Nerijus Šilgalis, the head of the institution, discussions held in the last week of July indicated that the ability to operate this season hinged upon the final decision from Scania, the manufacturer of the vessel’s new engine.

The “Raketa” had undergone testing this year utilizing the newly installed engine. While comprehensive course tests and technical inspections were conducted, the final determination was made not to resume operations during the current season. This decision results in a temporary suspension of services for a period spanning two years.

Consequently, the planned resumption of regular trips is now set for the following year. This schedule adjustment allows time for necessary preparations following the engine testing and inspection process. The institution confirmed that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure the vessel is fully operational for its return service to Nida in the specified month next year.
