The emergency service center reported that 18,803 calls were received on the 112 emergency number over a three-day period, marking an increase of nearly 10% compared to the preceding weekend. During this period, the total talk time recorded reached 348 hours. According to the BPC, the period spanning July 31 to August 2 represented the most significant operational activity of the summer season.
Historically, the highest weekend call volume was registered during the hottest weekend in June, tallying approximately 18,700 calls. Furthermore, the center noted that almost 12,000 calls were received specifically during the midsummer holidays. Activity levels peaked on Friday, when the BPC documented 6,473 calls, followed closely by Saturday with 6,269 calls.
A notable factor contributing to the increased volume on Friday was the public display of images related to the “Skydas” plan concerning the Seimas building. Additionally, call volume data indicated that the Klaipėda region experienced higher call rates on Saturday. Overall, the data suggests sustained high demand for emergency services throughout the summer months.
