A revolver was found in Vilnius, ammunition in Birštonas, and a hand grenade in a field in Vilnius district

Police authorities in Vilnius reported multiple incidents involving the discovery of prohibited weaponry on Monday evening. At approximately 7:57 p.m., officers located a shotgun in a forest area within the Žvėryno and Šeškinė neighborhoods, near Paribio street. Following this discovery, an ongoing pre-trial investigation was initiated concerning the unlawful possession of the firearm.

Earlier on the same day, around 7:55 p.m., a separate incident occurred in Vilnius on Bajorų road. In a meadow setting, a combat grenade, which was noted to be without a detonator, was found. Specialized officers from the “Aras” Special Operations Unit secured the item for immediate destruction.

Authorities stated that the specific circumstances surrounding both seizures are currently under investigation, and all collected materials are undergoing detailed analysis. These recent discoveries add to a pattern of seizures reported across the city. Contextual reports highlight other instances where weapons were found in residential areas, including a revolver with ammunition recovered from a resident’s apartment, and another case involving an unauthorized firearm discovered in a teenager’s room in the Švenčionių and Trakai districts.

The police department continues to investigate the origins and circumstances related to these various weapons found throughout Vilnius.
