The witness who saw the death of Motiejus Lisauskas: “He was swimming bravely”

A witness provided testimony to the TV3 news portal concerning the circumstances surrounding the death of M. Lisauskas. According to the witness, the environmental conditions included strong winds and rolling waves.

The individual noted the presence of a red flag warning sign, stating that the parties involved were proceeding toward the area marked by the sign. The witness characterized the actions as being undertaken with excessive confidence, describing the movement as “very boldly,” ultimately concluding that this overconfidence was the contributing factor to the incident. Lisauskas was an active figure in the sporting community, notably founding the 7AM Club sports group. His athletic career included significant achievements, such as winning the Red Bull Risk and Slysk skiing competition in 2017. Furthermore, he secured second place in the Big Air competition in Latvia in 2023 and was a consistent competitor in the Lithuanian championships, claiming victory in Estonia in 2022.

Regarding the investigation, Asta Kažukauskienė, a representative from the Klaipėda County Police Department (VPK), informed Eltai that the official report concerning the incident was received at approximately 13:48. The police department is managing the ongoing investigation into the details of the event involving Lisauskas.
