Saliamio sausainiai – with a dangerous bacteria: they will return the money even without a cash receipt

On July 21, 2026, the VMVT conducted a state control inspection, testing a specific sample of cold smoked salami. The affected item was identified as batch GM261764946602, manufactured by UAB „Krekenavos agrofirma“ and originally marked as suitable for consumption until July 10, 2026. During the testing protocol, the presence of Listeria monocytogenes was detected in the sampled product.

The contamination was traced to items distributed exclusively within IKI Lietuva stores. Following the detection, the VMVT issued a directive requiring the company to immediately withdraw the contaminated saliamio from the market. Consumers who may have purchased this unsafe product are advised by the VMVT not to consume it and to return it to the respective retail locations.

Separately, IKI Lietuva store representative Gintarė Kuitienė provided commentary regarding the incident. She stated that upon receiving notification of the contamination, the representative of the private brand was immediately contacted to assess the situation. While discussing the immediate response, she also addressed broader industry matters, noting that the current incident prompts reflection on agricultural practices and the lessons that this season will provide for future harvests.
