Minister M. Sinkevičius stated on Tuesday that he did not believe it was appropriate for him, as the head of the government, to comment on the president’s decision regarding work arrangements. He indicated that remote work is feasible, both within Lithuania and internationally.
Sinkevičius noted that since the president elected this mode of operation, he did not see any fundamental issues with it. This statement followed reports from the Presidency detailing that the head of state, G. Nausėda, is scheduled to visit a Portuguese island from August 3rd to August 10th.
During this period, Nausėda will operate remotely and will remain continuously updated on Lithuania’s most significant national events. The context of the visit suggests a continuation of modern operational practices for high-level officials. By working remotely while abroad, the president can maintain oversight of national affairs.
Sinkevičius’s comments emphasized that the capability to conduct official duties outside of the country is established and manageable. He maintained a neutral stance on the executive branch’s choice, focusing only on the logistical viability of the arrangement.
