The investment fund was allowed to take over the control of “Sunflower Investment” and the credit union “Sunflower”

The Council has granted approval for the Polish Enterprise Fund IX to acquire a controlling stake in “Saulėgrąžos investicijos,” securing 100% ownership of the entity. This transaction provides the fund with indirect influence, amounting to up to 81.52% of the shares held by the “Saulėgrąža” credit union. Furthermore, it has been reported that the structure of the credit union is set to undergo reorganization, transitioning into a closed joint-stock company.

Regarding the market implications of this corporate activity, the Competition Council received the formal notice of the intended concentration on July 13th. Following a thorough review of the transaction’s details, the institution issued a statement confirming its assessment. The Council determined that the planned concentration will neither establish nor reinforce a dominant market position, nor will it significantly restrict competition within the relevant sectors.

The approval marks a significant development in the regional financial landscape, involving substantial institutional investment. The acquisition by the fund solidifies its role in the financial sector, particularly concerning the management and restructuring of the credit union. This move is expected to reshape the operational framework of the institution, moving it from its current structure into a formalized joint-stock corporate model.

The regulatory clearance from the Competition Council signals that the market authorities view the proposed changes as compliant with established competition guidelines.
