Survey: Vilnius residents to buy newer, larger, and more expensive homes

According to Mykolas Čiplys, Head of Sales and Rental at Darnu Group, rising property prices are influencing both the actual housing budgets of residents and their future spending plans. However, the latest survey also suggests that residents report improving financial circumstances and possess higher expectations for future home acquisitions. Specifically, more individuals are planning to buy newly built properties that are both larger and situated in more desirable locations.

The comprehensive survey detailed current purchasing intentions across various price points. The findings indicate that 32% of respondents have either purchased or plan to buy a home valued between EUR 101,000 and EUR 150,000. A slightly smaller group, 31%, intend to spend or have spent between EUR 151,000 and EUR 250,000.

Furthermore, 15% of residents are targeting properties up to EUR 100,000, while 12% are looking at the EUR 251,000 to EUR 300,000 range, and 5% plan to buy properties exceeding EUR 351,000. When compared to previous data, the survey reveals a notable shift in spending habits. Two years ago, the percentage of residents planning to spend in the EUR 101,000 to EUR 150,000 bracket was 36%, suggesting a change in the expected investment level among the local population.
