On August 7, a significant fire incident occurred in an apartment building located on Lyra Street. According to reports from the Fire and Rescue Department, the department received notification of the fire at 10:37 AM. Upon arrival at the scene, responding firefighters were forced to break down the door of the affected flat to gain entry.
Inside the unit, firefighters discovered a bed actively burning. Critically, a nine-year-old child was located within the immediate vicinity of the blaze. Emergency personnel promptly removed the child from the burning area and transferred custody to medical staff outside the building.
Following an examination by the medical team, the child was assessed and found to be uninjured. The incident required a substantial response from emergency services to manage the fire and ensure the safety of the occupant. While the immediate danger was contained, the event prompted related safety concerns in the local area, including reports of other incidents, such as a fire in a flat in the Trakai district and another involving a cargo car set on fire in Priekulė.
The swift action of the fire department was necessary to control the blaze and secure the child who was found amidst the smoke and flames.
