A dangerous bridge was closed to walk on, but people still risk it: “They tear down the barriers and still go”

Daiva Bliūdžiuvienė, the mayor of Priekulė (Klaipėda district), has issued a warning regarding the current condition of the local bridge, stating that it is currently dangerous for pedestrians. The mayor confirmed that a warning has been posted, advising the public not to walk across the structure until repairs are complete. She indicated that construction work has been procured, with repair activities slated to commence around the middle of October.

According to the contractor, the goal is to complete all necessary repairs within the current autumn season. Bliūdžiuvienė noted that the Holy Shipyard complex is undergoing significant revitalization, including the planned construction of a 660-meter mole named “Lėšos” this year. Given these ongoing developments, the mayor expressed hope that the bridge repairs will be finalized by the end of the year.

While the contractor is still finalizing the specific technical methodologies for the repair process, the primary focus remains ensuring the work is executed according to schedule. The mayor concluded by assuring local residents that the necessary closure of the bridge will be managed to prevent major inconvenience to the community.
