According to K. Mažeika, the Ministry of Agriculture (MA) is anticipated to finalize a support scheme in August. The proposed system aims to eliminate administrative burdens for farmers by dispensing financial aid directly, circumventing the need for traditional applications.
Mažeika informed journalists that the initiative promotes “zero bureaucracy,” meaning that farmers will not be required to submit any physical applications or fill out extensive documentation. Instead, the financial aid amount will be calculated and disbursed directly into the farmers’ accounts based on existing data held by the Ministry, with the payment level correlating to the size of the respective farm. The minister noted that due to budgetary constraints regarding the total support amount, the focus of the aid will be strategically directed toward supporting small and medium-sized farms.
Addressing the current agricultural cycle, Mažeika emphasized that the limited nature of the funds necessitates careful consideration of the outcomes observed in the fields. The overhaul of the process is designed to streamline how financial assistance reaches the agricultural community. By automating the distribution process, the MA seeks to ensure that support funds can flow out to the intended recipients efficiently.
This shift away from manual applications is intended to provide immediate and predictable support to farmers, allowing them to focus resources on recovery and planning for the subsequent growing season.
