VSAT: Lithuanian border guards turned away 9 illegal migrants per day

Lithuanian border authorities have reported recent interceptions of migrants, with border guards turning away 87 individuals last night. Furthermore, Polish border services reported an additional 11 such people on Sunday. These figures contribute to the ongoing monitoring of border security in the region.

Looking at the annual trends, officials noted a decrease in interceptions compared to the previous year. Last year, authorities prevented over 1,600 people from entering Lithuania from Belarus at unauthorized locations. This year, the number recorded was 1,074.

Overall statistics indicate a significant cumulative effort to manage the influx of people. Since the migration crisis initiated by Belarus, authorities have collectively prevented approximately 25,600 illegal migrants from entering the country. These ongoing measures highlight the consistent vigilance of the Lithuanian border services in managing cross-border movements.

The data underscores the volume of border control activities undertaken by Lithuanian personnel to maintain national security and adhere to established entry protocols.
