Repairs have commenced on a section of road spanning nearly a kilometer, an undertaking designed to enhance not only the physical condition of the pavement but also overall traffic safety and organization. According to a recent press release, these investments are specifically targeted at state-owned roads within both city and town centers, areas designated as primary thoroughfares for local residents. Minister of Transport Juris Tamniskas emphasized the critical importance of these infrastructure projects.
He noted that while the sections may appear small on paper, they represent daily routes essential for residents accessing workplaces, educational institutions, and medical facilities. Consequently, the ministry is prioritizing consistent investment in regional infrastructure. “We have allocated investments to state-owned roads in cities and towns, which are the main streets for residents,” stated Minister Tamniskas.
He stressed that the functionality of these thoroughfares directly impacts daily life. The scope of the initiative is broad, aiming to improve connectivity across the country. The ministry plans to update all designated sections across 39 Lithuanian municipalities by the close of the current year.
