A truck overturned 4 parked cars on the outskirts of Vilnius

On August 21 at 8:53 a.m., a significant traffic incident occurred when a MAN vehicle left the roadway. The impact resulted in substantial property damage, including the breakage of a road sign, the overturning of a tree, and the damaging of a utility pole and sidewalk. The vehicle subsequently crashed into four cars that were parked within the adjacent car park.

The damaged vehicles were identified as a BMW, a Kia, a Renault, and a Citroen. Upon the arrival of law enforcement, authorities confirmed that the driver, a male born in 1961, was sober and sustained no injuries. Preliminary investigations suggest that the accident may have been triggered by a sudden medical episode affecting the driver.

Separately, the incident highlighted broader traffic disruptions in the area. Authorities noted that the initial report of the overturned vehicle contributed to a larger area affected by two separate car accidents across the Žaliakalny district of Vilnius. Police services were required to manage traffic flow in the vicinity.

Furthermore, this localized disruption followed reports of a major accident on the Palanga–Klaipėda highway, which had previously resulted in five reported injuries and caused significant traffic congestion.
