Police reports detail two separate incidents involving impaired driving on Friday. In Kaunas, an accident occurred at 22:05 on Kovo 11-osios g. A BMW, operated by a man born in 1989, reportedly collided with an Audi and subsequently fled the scene.
Authorities later located the driver, who tested positive for an average blood alcohol concentration of 2.39 prom. A separate incident took place earlier in Alytus, at 11:45 on Pramonės g. Here, the driver of a Peugeot was involved in an accident after striking an Audi A4 and leaving the area.
Approximately thirty minutes later, a damaged vehicle belonging to the presumed culprit was discovered on the roadside near the Peugeot. At the scene of the Alytus incident, two men were present. One was a 38-year-old man, who was intoxicated with a measured level of 2.43 prom.
He was observed sitting in the passenger seat of a 26-year-old man, who had an intoxication level of 1.99 prom. In both documented cases, no injuries were reported. Police have confirmed that both incidents are currently under investigation, highlighting the dangers associated with driving under the influence.
The reports emphasize that impaired driving remains a significant factor in traffic accidents involving automobiles.
