In Klaipėda, a drunk driver tried to escape from the police

At approximately 1:48 p.m., law enforcement officers encountered a Mercedes Benz vehicle at the intersection of Sportininkų g. and Malūninkų g. The police initiated a stop using standard emergency signals, including flashing red and blue lights and audible sirens.

Despite the visible presence of the police unit, the vehicle failed to stop initially. Officers subsequently located and stopped the car at Švyturio g. in Klaipėda.

Upon stopping the vehicle, authorities took action against the occupant, a male driver born in 1992. Following the stop, the individual was taken into custody. Reports indicate that the arrested driver subsequently declined to undergo the mandated sobriety test administered by the police.

The incident underscores an ongoing enforcement effort by the local police department regarding impaired driving. The individual was transported to the police station following the refusal to cooperate with the sobriety assessment. Authorities have confirmed that the driver was detained in connection with suspected drunk driving offenses.

The investigation remains active, and the detained individual is currently being processed by local law enforcement agencies.
