LLRA-KŠS intends to put W. Urbano’s candidacy for the mayor of Vilnius district

The LLRA-KSH has not issued formal candidate nominations for the upcoming mayoral elections. However, the party has indicated an adherence to a general policy: candidates will be re-nominated in municipalities where the LLRA-KSH received vote totals at least equal to those recorded during the 2019 elections. This strategy targets four specific areas: Vilnius city, Vilnius, Šalčininkai, and Trakai districts.

Focusing on the Vilnius district, one of the key municipalities, the party noted that its candidate, Waldemar Urban, secured over 20,000 votes on March 5, 2023. Since this result matched the figures from 2019, Urban is slated for re-nomination in the 2027 elections. This electoral activity is set against the backdrop of recent local politics.

During the 2023 municipal council and mayoral elections, W. Tomaszewski himself sought the position of mayor for the capital. The stated criteria for re-nomination suggest that electoral performance relative to previous cycles is a significant factor guiding the LLRA-KSH’s nomination process in these key regions.

The party’s decision to base future candidacies on sustained voter support in areas like Vilnius underscores a focus on established electoral strength within the Lithuanian political landscape.
