J. Olekas addressed questions regarding the potential appointment of a new deputy to the presidency of the Seimas on “Radio Z” on Wednesday. When questioned about whether R.
Žemaitaitis could serve as his deputy, Olekas stated that the allocation of positions is governed by a quota principle established within the Seimas. He noted that the number of representatives a faction holds dictates the number of positions they are entitled to. Olekas further clarified that the selection of a deputy falls under the authority of the President of the Seimas.
Regarding the current role, he expressed satisfaction with the performance of his existing deputy and stated that arrangements would be made to ensure the position is filled appropriately. Currently, the President of the Seimas, J. Olekas, has seven deputies.
These deputies represent various political affiliations, including social democrats Rasa Budbergytė and Orinta Leiputė; liberal Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen; conservative Radvilė Morkūnaitė-Mikulėnienė; representatives from “Aurichites,” Raimondas Šukys and Daiva Žebelienė; and the “statewoman” Aušrinė Norkienė. In related discussions, the leader of the LSDP reassured Olekas that he would remain in his current position. Upon confirmation, Olekas acknowledged the assurance provided by M.
Sinkevičius.
