The appellate court has issued a ruling regarding a severe criminal case, determining that an individual was responsible for the brutal death of a one-year-old child. According to Audrius Cininas, a member of the panel, the incident occurred on August 2, 2025, in the Žvėrynas district of Vilnius. The court found that the minor had killed the infant using a combination of a knife and a hammer, inflicting at least 35 blows across various parts of the body.

The judge ultimately ruled that the minor was guilty of the particularly brutal murder of a human being. In conjunction with the conviction, the court extended the duration of the restraining order until the full enforcement of the judgment. Furthermore, the accused was ordered to pay substantial financial damages.

The victim’s family was awarded 100,000 euros for non-pecuniary damage, alongside 11,000 euros to cover the legal costs incurred by the minor’s attorney; these fees are payable by the parents if the minor lacks sufficient funds. Separately, the appellate proceedings also addressed another related matter. The court confirmed that a case involving a 15-year-old who was killed in the Žvėrynas district has been formally opened, and the accused has been charged in connection with that incident.

The rulings emphasize the gravity of the violence documented over the course of the year. The judicial findings establish clear culpability in the fatal assault on the infant.
