László Toroczkai, a member of the Hungarian parliament, voiced concerns regarding the potential impact on ethnic Hungarians residing in areas such as Užkarpatė. He expressed worry that such provisions could expose these men to significant risks, potentially leading to deployment far from their homes. Consequently, he called upon the government to formally oppose the European Commission’s initiative.
In response to the development, P. Magyar confirmed that Hungary’s official stance had already been communicated during a meeting of the EU Internal Affairs Council held in Luxembourg. According to Magyar, Budapest, alongside several other nations, does not support the parameters set out in the European Commission’s proposal.
