A car crashed into a pond in Vilnius – firefighters were trying to save the woman left inside

Rescue services were alerted at 7:22 a.m. regarding an accident at Buivydiškės pond. Firefighters discovered a vehicle submerged and overturned in the pond.

Rescuers successfully extracted a woman from the car and immediately commenced resuscitation efforts. Separate incidents involving water accidents were reported across different regions. In the Šyša river, a woman from the town of Šilutė was reportedly swept away by the waves and subsequently drowned.

Further incidents involved submerged vehicles. In the Prienai district, an electric car was recovered from a local pond. Meanwhile, in the Anykščiai district, the body of a man was discovered inside a car that had sunk into a pond.

The injured individual associated with this event was subsequently transported to a hospital. In all reported cases, the police have initiated investigations to determine the circumstances surrounding the accidents. The multiple incidents highlight varied emergencies involving vehicles near bodies of water, including ponds and rivers, requiring significant response from rescue personnel.
