A fake account of Minister E. Grikšas created on Facebook: scammers offer to join the stock club

Authorities have issued warnings regarding fraudulent messaging campaigns targeting residents, which are impersonating government officials to promote illegal investment schemes. Scammers are sending messages through platforms like WhatsApp, falsely claiming to offer free investment tips and detailed analysis on major company shares, including those of Microsoft, NVIDIA, Tesla, and Apple. The Ministry of Economy and Innovation has strongly emphasized that neither the minister, Edvinas Grikšas, nor the Ministry itself engages in any direct investment activities or invites citizens to join private investment groups.

These deceptive messages capitalize on public interest in financial markets, often appearing to lend credibility by referencing official figures, such as the recent announcement of the Prime Minister’s cabinet composition. In response, officials have urged the public to exercise extreme caution. Residents are advised not to respond to such communications, refrain from clicking any provided links, and under no circumstances should they share personal or financial data.

The ministry advises that any suspicious account should be reported directly to the Facebook administration. Authorities reiterate that official communications regarding financial matters will not involve private investment groups.
