A former police officer convicted of urinating on his service uniform has been fined about 4,000 euros

The appellate court has finalized proceedings concerning a former police officer, R. Ščerbinin, resulting in a fine of 4,050 euros. Initially, the Vilnius Regional District Court acquitted Mr.

Ščerbinin in March; however, the prosecutor appealed this ruling, and the appellate body upheld the penalty. The appellate decision confirmed several key facts regarding the incident in December 2024. Specifically, the court determined that Ščerbinin had urinated on a police officer’s uniform and subsequently uploaded video footage of the event to the internet.

During the proceedings, Ščerbinin contested the urination claim, stating in court that his actions were intended only as a gesture. Separately, the appellate court also issued a ruling concerning a case involving the brutal murder of a 15-year-old last year. In that matter, the court addressed the timing of the arrest, concluding that mitigating circumstances were a determining factor.

The judgment solidifies the legal findings against the former employee. The appellate court’s decision confirms that the initial acquittal was overturned following the prosecutor’s appeal, establishing liability for the actions taken against the officer and the public dissemination of the incident.
