A new ship arrived in Klaipeda: the guests were intrigued by the Cold War theme

Klaipėda has seen a significant influx of international visitors, with reports indicating that nearly 1,900 tourists arrived from 47 different countries. According to Romena Savickienė, head of the Klaipėda Tourism Information Center, a substantial portion of these arriving guests originated from the USA, Canada, and Australia. Tourism interest remains varied, with many visitors opting to explore multiple local sites, including Klaipėda, Kretinga, and Palanga.

Of particular note is the sustained interest in historical attractions, as a large number of tourists specifically chose to visit the museum dedicated to the Cold War era in Plateliai. While the Curonian Spit remains a popular destination, the recent reporting noted that only one bus serviced the area during the observed period. In addition to cultural sightseeing, the port area is seeing notable technological development.

Local scientists have successfully developed and tested an electric-powered boat, signaling an advancement in local maritime transport options. From a cruise perspective, the port continues to be highly active. This marks the arrival of the 15th cruise ship of the year, with a total of 47 vessels anticipated for the year’s operations.

Furthermore, three additional cruise ships are scheduled to visit the port in June.
