The development aimed to establish a high-quality recreational space for the residents of the city, integrating specific civic values into its design. The former technical quay has been transformed into a vibrant waterfront recreational area, now rich with greenery. The landscape design intentionally contrasts geometric green areas with the surrounding industrial architecture.
A subtle topographical relief has been established within the site, planted with vegetation modeled after the natural landscape of the Curonian Spit. To enhance the visual experience, several species of grasses were selected, including mėlitas, viryklė, drebūnas, muskatas, lendrūnas, and melvenė. Furthermore, the flowerbeds were supplemented with various flowering plants intended to support local insect and bee populations.
While the area presents itself outwardly as a serene park, every pathway incorporated into the design serves as a memorial marker to a past tragedy. This dual nature means that visitors can see both a natural oasis and a site of historical reflection. The resulting space offers the city’s inhabitants a place to gather and relax, making it a significant civic asset.
