According to a report issued by the Lithuanian Prison Service, an incident occurred on the afternoon of August 4 at the Marijampolė prison. Officials reported that a convicted person was found without vital signs in a toilet facility within the facility. Lithuanian Prison Service staff immediately responded to the scene and commenced resuscitation efforts on the individual.
These efforts continued until the arrival of emergency medical personnel, who subsequently confirmed the prisoner’s death. Preliminary investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death established potential signs of violent death, leading to the initiation of a murder investigation. Separately, information regarding employment standards for workers at Lithuania’s nuclear power plants was reported.
These employees are currently remunerated at a minimum wage of 1,000 euros per month. This minimum wage level is established by governmental decree, and the working hours for these workers are capped at a maximum of 40 hours per week.
