The MSC Magnifica recently arrived in Klaipėda, bringing an estimated 2,530 tourists to the city, according to Romina Savickienė, head of the Klaipėda Tourism Information Center, speaking to VE.lt. This visit marked the largest cruise ship to visit Klaipėda this year to date. Savickienė noted that while the MSC Magnifica is currently the third longest cruise ship to visit this year, the city is scheduled to host two even larger vessels over the summer months.
These include the 316-meter MSC Maxi, which is slated to arrive in Klaipėda on both July 16 and July 17. Additionally, the 300-meter MSC Rotterdam is expected to dock at the Lithuanian port on September 22. In addition to the cruise activity, the Baltic Sea has been a site for military exercises, during which the United States demonstrated new technologies.
The influx of international tourists via cruise liners contributes significantly to the local economy. The port remains a key destination for international travelers. The upcoming arrivals of larger MSC vessels are anticipated to continue the strong flow of tourists to Klaipėda.
