A train hit a car that had found itself on the tracks near Kalvarija – two people were injured

On June 20 at 20:46, firefighters from the Kaunas Fire Brigade were dispatched to Kestenių village within the Kalvarija municipality. The location is situated at a crossroads connecting Kalvarija and Šeštokai, approximately 49 kilometers from the main center. Responders were called to the scene following reports of a collision involving a train and a private car.

Upon arrival, emergency services confirmed that a collision had occurred between the train and the light car. Initial reports suggested that a passenger inside the vehicle had been pinned; however, upon assessment, it was determined that the passenger was not pinned. The occupants of the car were attended to by rescue personnel.

The driver, born in 2007, managed to exit the car on their own. The passenger, also born in 2007, was found to be unconscious. Firefighters managed the scene following the impact involving the train and the car in the Kalvarija area.
