About R. Žemaitis’ statements – E. Jakilaičio appeal to the court

A preparatory meeting for a civil case has been scheduled for Monday, as confirmed by Giedrius Janonis, who represented the court proceedings. The case centers on allegations brought by E. Jakilaitis against R.

Žemaitis regarding content that was publicly disseminated. According to statements made by T. Gailius, a former VSD officer, the plaintiff, E.

Jakilaitis, has petitioned the court. Jakilaitis alleges that certain statements and opinions previously published by the defendant, R. Žemaitis, were disseminated in an unethical manner and lacked factual basis.

The core of the legal complaint is that these published remarks allegedly infringed upon Jakilaitis’s honor, dignity, and professional standing. In addition to seeking a judicial acknowledgment of the defamation, Jakilaitis is requesting that the court award him 10,000 euros to cover non-pecuniary damages and the associated costs of the litigation. The legal action follows previous incidents where the journalist and publicist contacted law enforcement authorities concerning the politician’s remarks.

At that time, an official investigation was initiated by authorities. The current proceedings before the court aim to address the scope and impact of the statements that were published, establishing a formal record of the dispute between the two parties.
