After resignation – additional rest: I. Ruginienė goes on a day off(1)

President G. Nausėda signed a decree on Monday, June 22, granting I. Ruginienė an additional annual holiday.

This action occurred on the eve of the Government’s impending resignation. The decree officially grants her one day of leave on June 25. During her absence, the acting Minister of Internal Affairs, Vladislavas Kondratovičius, will assume responsibility for her duties.

According to I. Ruginienė’s advisor, Ignas Algirdas Dobrovolskas, the temporary head of the Government intends for this break to be a family occasion. Ruginienė indicated that she has always been open to extended periods of rest.

The news coverage also noted that Ruginienė’s official order concerning the vacations of government members for 2026 was reviewed. This review highlighted that several other officials within the administration have also scheduled time away from their posts. The granting of this specific holiday follows a period of transition for the executive branch.

The timing of the approved leave, just before the government’s planned resignation, draws attention to the scheduling of official duties amidst political changes. The pattern of scheduled breaks suggests a general trend of planned downtime among various members of the government as the administration navigates its transition period.
