Shelter representatives reported that the initial concern arose in late April when a man contacted the facility. The man had returned from traveling abroad to visit his elderly mother. During this visit, he discovered an unexpected and large population of uncontrolled rabbits residing within the woman’s apartment.
Initially, the scale of the situation was difficult for the volunteers to accept. However, upon inspecting the premises, they confirmed the extent of the animal presence. During the first intervention, shelter staff successfully removed thirteen rabbits of various ages, along with six newborn rabbits.
These animals were immediately transported to the shelter for care. The rescue efforts continued beyond the initial findings. Following the care for the rabbits, the team undertook additional rescues.
These subsequent efforts included the retrieval of a kitten, whose condition required specialized attention. Furthermore, a seven-month-old seagull, described as having experienced numerous challenges, was also taken into care, as it sought a permanent home. The coordinated response demonstrated the ongoing commitment of the shelter staff to animal welfare.
The collective effort, beginning with the discovery of the rabbits during the man’s visit, resulted in the safe intake and care of multiple animals, highlighting the varied nature of the rescue work conducted by the facility.
