After the relentless heat – and serious changes: they announce how the long weekend will look like

Meteorologist E. Latvėnaitė has provided an update on the prevailing weather pattern across Scandinavia, the Baltic region, and Eastern Europe. Currently, the area is under the influence of the anticyclone Immanuel, which has resulted in dry and calm conditions.

However, this stable period is not expected to last. Forecasting a change starting Wednesday, a smaller cyclone named Yuna is predicted to approach from the south and southwest. Its associated wavy atmospheric front is expected to traverse Lithuania, bringing rainfall, with some areas anticipating periods of heavy downpours, thunder, and hail.

While the western parts of Lithuania are forecast to experience cooler temperatures, the southeastern regions are anticipated to remain hot. Consequently, the likelihood of thunder, hail, and stronger wind gusts is higher in the southeast. The inclement weather is projected to continue into Thursday, with thunderstorms and rain expected throughout the night and into the following day.

A period of calmer weather is anticipated for Thursday evening and Friday night. Looking ahead, the forecast indicates that the Scandinavian and Baltic regions will become progressively stormier and rainier beginning on Friday. These shifts suggest that the calm weather observed recently will not be long-lasting, requiring residents throughout Lithuania to prepare for fluctuating conditions.
