After threats, residents of Lazdijai district were quickly searched at the man’s house – illegally kept firearms and ammunition were found

On July 20, police received reports detailing escalating incidents of alleged violence within the region. At approximately 5:20 p.m., the Police Department logged a report from a woman, born in 1997, stating that she had been threatened with a physical beating. Later the same day, at 7:00 p.m., law enforcement conducted a search at the residence of a man, born in 1967, located in Krasenka village within the Lazdijai district.

During the search, authorities discovered and confiscated several items deemed to be in violation of law, specifically a semi-automatic shotgun, 16-caliber 17-shot ammunition, and a pneumatic shotgun identified as a “GAMO.”

Following the seizure of these illegal firearms, the man was taken into custody and transported to a local detention facility. The preliminary investigation has been initiated concerning the illegal possession of these weapons and related threats of violence. These incidents are part of ongoing police monitoring in the area, which has seen recent reports concerning domestic disputes involving weapons.

For instance, separate investigations have addressed charges filed by the Kaunas prosecutor against the Koščmariška family regarding potential spousal violence. Furthermore, police have investigated separate incidents in the Klaipėda district involving an armed man who allegedly attacked family members in a vehicle, resulting in smashed windows. The cumulative preliminary investigation is therefore focusing on patterns of threat, illegal firearm possession, and potential violence within the district.
