Alytus prison escapee caught in Vilnius while the helpless driver enjoyed ice cream in a van

On July 19, at approximately 2:30 PM, a wanted individual was apprehended in Vilnius at Barčių g., according to reports from the Police Department. The arrested man, identified as Edvinas Petrauskas, was born in 1990. He was a convicted individual who had previously left the facility in Alytus for employment during the preceding month.

Following his capture, he was transferred into the custody of officers from the Alytus prison. The Lithuanian Prison Service subsequently confirmed the details of the arrest. Their report stated that on that day, Vilnius district police notified the service regarding the apprehension of the inmate from Salininkai prison.

The man had been classified as a wanted fugitive since June 25 due to his failure to report back to the designated place of punishment by the established deadline.
