On August 9, at approximately 17:02, the Kaunas Fire Rescue Department received a report concerning an active fire involving an electric scooter on February 16th Street. Upon arrival, responding firefighters observed smoke emanating from the burning scooter. Prior to the arrival of professional emergency services, a worker from a local sports center was actively working to suppress the flames using a powder spray.
The fire was ultimately extinguished by firefighters using a high-pressure hose, which consumed an estimated 200 liters of water during the operation. In addition to managing the incident involving the burning scooter, the emergency response team was required to conduct a rescue operation at a nearby multi-story building. During efforts to control the fire within the structure, firefighters had to cut open a building door to safely extract a nine-year-old boy who was trapped inside.
The incident highlighted the multi-faceted response required by local fire services, managing both an outdoor vehicle fire and an internal rescue scenario. The prompt action of both the initial responder and the professional fire crews was instrumental in controlling the blaze and ensuring the safety of the resident involved in the rescue.
