An oncologist listed the signs of malignant cancer: these signs cannot escape the eye

The American Cancer Society (ACS) reports that tobacco smoking is responsible for approximately 85% of deaths related to lung cancer. However, the development of this type of cancer is not solely linked to tobacco use. Several other environmental and lifestyle factors have been identified as significant contributors to increased risk.

These include exposure to radon, an odorless gas commonly found in residential homes, as well as broader pollutants such as general air pollution, secondhand smoke, and environmental hazards like asbestos. To identify potential issues, experts advise vigilance regarding specific physical changes. Dr.

Robert McKenna, a thoracic surgeon based in California, has outlined key warning signs associated with lung cancer. He notes that one of the most common indicators is a persistent cough that does not abate or, critically, one that worsens over time. Furthermore, the presence of blood in the sputum, or coughing up blood, is a notable symptom.

Another physical sign to monitor is the discharge of thick, rust-colored mucus. Understanding these signs is crucial for early detection. While smoking remains the primary risk factor, awareness of secondary triggers—such as radon exposure or occupational hazards—is equally important for prevention.

Monitoring any persistent respiratory symptoms and consulting a healthcare provider is recommended when assessing potential lung cancer risk.
