Anshlag in the netball selection: 54 young talents compete for a place in the Lithuanian national team

Latvian specialist Mariusz Vensberg spearheaded recent selection and mastery camps for the sport of netball. Vensberg, who secured the Lithuanian championship and national cup last season with the Šiauliai “Elga-Grafaitė-S-Sport” team, addressed the enthusiasm shown by participants. He noted the growing interest in the sport among the nation’s youth.

During the initial selection process, Vensberg observed a significant concentration of talent among the young players, specifically mentioning promising athletes born between 2011 and 2013. According to Vensberg, the objectives of the camp extended beyond merely identifying the most skilled players. A key focus was placed on comprehensive development, aiming to foster growth across the entire cohort.

“Our main goal is not only to select the strongest, but also to help everyone grow,” Vensberg stated. He emphasized the commitment to building a cohesive and competitive U18 squad. This team, he explained, is intended to be both skilled and resilient, positioning them to successfully represent Lithuania in the upcoming European qualification round next year.

The intensive training regimen at the camp provided a platform for these young athletes to hone their skills under professional guidance. The overall effort underscores a strategic commitment to elevating the standard of netball within the country, ensuring that the next generation of players is adequately prepared for international competition.
