The VMVT Alytus District Supervision Office has suspended the operations of Sūduvos Mėsos Gaminių Ltd. following a planned inspection that revealed serious, systematic violations of hygiene and safety standards. Although the company has operated for several years, including previous instances of infractions, the recent findings indicate a significant deterioration in operational compliance.
According to the VMVT report, the inspection uncovered numerous unsanitary conditions within the facility. These included unclean premises, visible accumulations of blood and water on the flooring, and the presence of moldy refrigerators. Furthermore, old meat scraps were observed resting on unclean equipment surfaces.
Pest infestations were also noted, with moths visible throughout the premises and a dead mouse discovered within a bait box, suggesting entry through unsecured exterior doors. Beyond the immediate unsanitary conditions, the vmvt initiated a broader investigation into potential hygiene breaches. A significant concern raised was the discovery of over 300 kg of meat deemed waste, originating from unknown sources.
The regulatory body’s action highlights the severity of the violations found at the company. The suspension of operations serves as a direct enforcement measure following these findings. The investigation underscores the regulatory commitment to ensuring safe food handling practices across the local market, directly impacting the supply chain for food delivery services and the broader public.
