Before the NATO summit, E5 convenes in Berlin at the invitation of F. Merzo

French President Emmanuel Macron, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer are scheduled to participate in high-level discussions. These discussions are anticipated to center on several critical geopolitical issues, including sustained support for Ukraine, the strategic role of Europe following developments involving Iran, and the necessity of burden-sharing among NATO members. This meeting represents the first gathering of the E5 countries at this level since the NATO summit held in The Hague in June 2025.

The E5 grouping comprises four European nations that are also members of the G7, alongside Poland. Poland’s participation is significant given its border with Russia, positioning the nation as a key representative of Eastern European interests. Furthermore, the summit in the Netherlands is expected to host the President of Ukraine.

The participation of multiple heads of government, including several prime ministers, underscores the high priority accorded to these international discussions. Discussions among the prime minister and presidential representatives will likely address strengthening collective security frameworks. The dialogue aims to solidify unified European policy responses while reinforcing the commitments made under the NATO alliance structure.

The focus remains on ensuring a cohesive international stance regarding regional stability and defense cooperation among allied nations.
