The Lithuanian Court of Appeal has announced a postponement of the decision regarding a large-scale corruption case. The hearing, originally scheduled for 12:50 on July 9, has been rescheduled to 12:50 on September 14, 2026. According to the court’s report, the delay is necessitated by the extensive scope of the criminal case, the significant volume of appeals filed, and the complexity of the factual and legal issues presented.
Currently, the court is considering fifteen separate appeals. Furthermore, the court’s report cited specific factors influencing the postponement. These included the “mysterious nature of the purchase of a luxurious home by Živilė Pinskuvienė” and the potential impact on the “honor and dignity of S.
Malinauskas.” The proceedings are also connected to previous legal actions, such as an instance where R. Šimaitis’s “Facebook” post was deemed to have insulted S. Malinauskas’s honor and dignity, and a law enforcement search conducted at Živilė Pinskuvienė’s mother’s residence in Palanga, Širvintų district.
The court’s ruling will become final only after the Court of Appeal issues its decision. This postponement reflects the considerable complexity involved in reaching a final judgment on the large matter before the court.
