During operations at the border, VSAT border guard personnel encountered a simultaneous interception of multiple drones at a single location for the first time. On Friday night, in Jaskonys village within the Druskininkai district, near the border with Belarus, border guards detected the distinct sounds of several drones operating in the dark. Shortly thereafter, border guards from the Druskininkai area observed objects descending from the Belarusian side.
The situation escalated when border guards from the Varėna district deployed a homemade flying robot. This drone was found to be carrying illicit materials. In response, VSAT officers immediately utilized various anti-drone tools, directing countermeasures against the sources of sound emanating from multiple directions.
The operation proved successful. The coordination among the guards allowed the personnel to neutralize the threat. Ultimately, all four drones, along with the contraband they were carrying, were observed falling to the ground in succession.
The incident underscores the heightened vigilance of the border guards tasked with securing the border area against unauthorized aerial incursions. The deployment of specialized anti-drone technology proved critical in safely resolving the coordinated intrusion involving the drones.
