ELTA: School receives threatening messages for the third day in a row

The National Crisis Management Center (NKVC) has reported that Lithuanian schools have received threatening messages for the third consecutive day during the main State Examination (VBE) session. According to the center, over one hundred educational institutions across various Lithuanian municipalities received these threatening messages on Wednesday. Separately, President Gitanas Nausėda submitted a proposal to the Seimas (Parliament).

This proposal grants the government the authority to temporarily reduce the state-regulated electricity price by up to 30%. Under the terms outlined, the energy company would be responsible for repaying this shortfall by the year 2038. The NKVC’s report highlighted the ongoing security concern impacting educational facilities as the VBE sessions continue.

The reception of these threatening messages marks the third day the center has documented such incidents involving the country’s schools. Meanwhile, the legislative proposal addresses economic policy. The measure aims to provide immediate relief concerning energy costs by allowing a significant, temporary adjustment to the regulated electricity price, while establishing a long-term repayment schedule for the utility provider.

These two developments—the security concern at schools and the proposed energy price adjustment—represent distinct issues being addressed in the national sphere.
