Experts are worried: the dangerous virus is spreading faster than expected

According to an official, the total death toll has reached 204, including two individuals who passed away in neighboring Uganda. The current count shows 894 confirmed cases of the disease, with 875 of those cases recorded in Congo. To date, a total of 74 people have been reported as recovered.

The official noted that the current number of confirmed cases in the region is significantly higher than previous outbreaks. Specifically, the incidence reported in the first month is three times greater than the level seen during the second largest outbreak. A key concern highlighted by specialists is the low number of contacts traced so far.

Presently, only 4,112 contacts of patients infected with Ebola have been identified. However, estimates suggest that the actual number of potential contacts is closer to 35,000 people. Ebola remains a life-threatening illness, transmitted through direct physical contact or contact with infected body fluids.

Given the current transmission dynamics, the situation is described as being far from under control. The continuous monitoring of case numbers and the necessity of tracing contacts are crucial measures as authorities work to manage the spread of the disease.
